As I See it..

from Rick:

“Love it or - Change It

Years ago there was a bumper sticker that said, “America: Love it- or leave it.” I believe that true
patriotism, or love for our country, should be accompanied with a desire to change it - where
possible. It is “my country, right or wrong,” but I have a responsibility to try to correct the wrongs where
needed.  Perhaps the same could be said of the church. When we complain about what is wrong with our church, are we committed to improving it? Are we part of the problem, or the solution?

A young boy complained to his father that most of the church hymns were boring and old-fashioned, with
tiresome words that meant little to his generation. His father challenged him with these words: “If you think you can write better hymns, why don’t you?” The boy accepted the challenge, went to his room, and wrote his first hymn. The year was 1690, and the young man was Isaac Watts. He wrote a total of 350 hymns. Among those “new hymns” he wrote were:
“Alas, and did my Savior Bleed”
“Am I a Soldier of the Cross?”
“Marching to Zion ”
“Joy to the World”
“O God, our Help in Ages Past”
“When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”
